Super Bowl commercials have earned a legendary status for their humor and entertainment value. With millions of people guaranteed to watch each year, commercials at this time come with an incredibly steep price as well. A whopping 4.5 million dollars were spent for just a 30-second commercial. In this sense advertisers must make their money count. Commercials this year took a surprisingly somber tone. That being said, Doritos and other companies with commercials strived to make us chuckle. Here are a few of our favorite commercials from this year.
“Come Back to the Sea” - Carnival Cruises
An aesthetically pleasing and alluring conglomeration of short clips of people and the sea. This is accompanied by an inspiring old JFK speech he made at the America’s Cup (yacht race) many, many years ago. This is my personal favorite.
“When Pigs Fly” - Doritos
Doritos always comes to the Super Bowl with comedic relief. Desperate for Doritos, a young boy had to make pigs fly to prove his brother wrong and win his Doritos.
“Like a Girl” - Always
An empowering commercial sparking social change. It begs the question “since when has doing things like a girl been a bad thing?”.
