The world’s most trafficked mammal is the “Pangolin”.

Student Reporter Alex Batchelor
Not many people in the world know what a pangolin even is. The pangolin is really just an anteater with scales. They are hunted for their scales, meat, and healing powers. In China it’s not odd to find pangolin on the menu or their scales in stores for medicine. Unfortunately, the people who hunt these mammals are usually so desperate for money and food they will hunt them often to take care of their family. There have only been 1 million trafficked pangolins intercepted by WildAid in the last 15 years. Sadly, the trafficked pangolin numbers are ten times the amount WildAid has intercepted. The main place where the pangolin are coming from and hunted  is in Sumatra, Indonesia.
