Forty-eight-year-old Tice was found dead inside a multimillion-dollar home in the Sunset Cliffs neighborhood near downtown San Diego on Monday.
"Due to the suspicious circumstances related to the death ... San Diego Police Homicide Detectives were called to the scene and are currently investigating the incident," police said in a statement.
Tice's body was found by officers responding to a request that police check on the welfare of a resident at the property, the statement said.
Tice founded CorePower Yoga in 2002, starting with a single studio in Denver. The business rapidly grew into a network of more than 160 yoga studios across the United States.
Tice received a degree in Business from the University of Colorado and, prior to founding CorePower, he owned an information technology company.

The Good, Bad and Ugly of Warmer US-Russia Relations

Why is Rex Tillerson as secretary of state so controversial?

Staff Reporter Brayden Thomas

George W. Bush tried it. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton tried it. Now Donald Trump is trying to reset relations with Russia.
But could the unintended costs outweigh the benefits?
The President-elect's Russian gambit seems like a solid foreign policy goal, given that the estrangement between the rivals -- owners of the world's biggest nuclear arsenals -- is deeper than at any time since the Cold War.

Methane Levels in the Atmosphere Spike

                Staff Reporter Alex Batchelor
Carbon emissions have always been high and people are working to reduce them because of climate change. Although there is another dangerous gas with increasing levels: methane. Levels of methane have increased faster than at any point in the past two decades. Methane traps 28 times more heat than carbon dioxide. The surge was first noticed in 2007, and since then levels have gotten much worse. Rice production and livestock both emit dangerous amounts of methane into the atmosphere.
