Celeberity Deaths

So far 2016 is a very depressing year. The whole “new year, new me” saying really applied for some of our most beloved celebrities. These include Alan Rickman, David Bowie, Celine Dion’s husband, and former Baltimore Colts head coach Ted Marchibroda.  They will be dearly missed.

Where Does Your Self-Esteem Come From?

An article that talks about how you gain your self-esteem it says “ ‘Confidence’ derives from the Latin fidere, ‘to trust’. Self-confidence essentially means to trust and have faith in oneself ”. You should have trust and faith in yourself to see that your value is higher than what others label you as. You see the problem starts with the labels. Guys AND girls both see themselves as objects of opinion not an equal to the human race. Also, you should gain confidence by seeing what you have that nobody else does. Not only should your exterior be beautiful to you so should your interior. If you can see that you as a person is also just as valuable as what others label being valuable, you will go further than the rest of the people who criticize you for your looks, weight, height, or age.

Ex Power Ranger Facing Jail Time

Hold onto your childhood, an ex "Power Ranger" was just arrested for murder! A dispute over Ricardo Medina's girlfriend ended in the fatal attack of Josh Sutter. Medina stabbed Sutter in the stomach repeatedly with a...sword. If Ricardo is convicted, he could spend 26 years to life in prison. Can it still be considered "
morphin' time!" while incarcerated?

Molly Gochman’s Project

January is Human Trafficking Awareness month and Molly Gochman is hoping that her project will help the world pay closer attention. She read an article about human trafficking. The artist explained, “As I learned more, I saw how big the problem was and felt there was nothing I could do to make a difference”. Molly explained that once she had learned that 50% of children sold for sex in the U.S. came out of foster homes, she realized the key to stopping human trafficking was to invest in the vulnerabilities that lead to it. “I saw sidewalk cracks as a good metaphor for vulnerable populations, and the idea of human trafficking is hidden in plain sight.” said, Molly Gochman.
We don’t normally think of human trafficking in as being in our own backyard, but it is. It exist all around us. Like sidewalk cracks, we’re just not mindful of it. The sand represents small grains working together to transform a space, and the red color represents urgency. The best thing we can do to combat human trafficking is to learn about it and look for the signs.
If you see anything suspicious, you can report it to the trafficking hotline at (888)373-7888. If you are a victim you can also use the text code (BeFree) and it will automatically erase the text from your mobile device. That way someone controlling your device won’t see it. The most effective thing you can do is start making more informed purchasing decisions and being mindful about the labor force in general. You can visit redsandproject.com to request a free Red Sand Project Toolkit and to learn more about the initiative.

Google Self Driving Car

The self-driving cars being developed by Google X are improving, but humans still have to take over on rare occasions. Google’s vision is to build vehicles that don’t require humans to be involved at all. Despite big improvements, the vehicles aren’t able to navigate all circumstances. Over a 14 month period humans have had to take the wheel 272 times, and the car would have crashed 13 times without out human intervention. At first, humans had to take control about once every 785 miles. Now humans have to take control every 5.318 miles.

Actor Alan Rickman dies from cancer at age 69

The British actor started out on Broadway in 1987. Alan Rickman then appeared playing the role of Hans Gruber in Die Hard in 1988. He set the standard for urban villains for decades to come. Although he is most famous for villains, he could play anything. From a cello playing ghost to a rough talking Military Colonel. Rickman blessed the screen with his comedic abilities in movies like Dogma (1999) and a Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005). He even mastered singing in the musical The Demon barber of Fleet Street (2007). However, Rickman’s most prominent role with younger audiences was when he took on the role of Severus Snape in JK Rowling's Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone all the way through The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 films.

Alan Rickman sat the stone for British actors in American film and television.Alan Rickman’s legacy will forever live on through the films he has wonderfully pacted in. There was nothing this man couldn't do, and his talent and love for his job will forever be seen on the big screen.

Where are women's rights thrown aside? Where is sexism profound? Where can women be jailed for
having a premature birth or miscarriage? El Salvador. Abortions are illegal and can result in being tried for murder or attempted murder. The penalty for abortions is so harsh, women have been performing the dangerous procedure solo and DYING. Any act a pregnant women commits that can be construed as being harmful to the baby is met with a long sentencing which is understandable but that gives the option for people to wrongly accuse women of heinous crimes.
Cristina Quintanilla was one of those women that were wrongly accused after having a miscarriage. A pregnancy of seven months ended in unconsciousness and a lot of blood loss as she collapsed onto the floor and was rushed to the hospital. As she awoke, a man in blue stood over her and took her from the hospital in handcuffs. She was placed into a cell in a police jail and interrogated before the effects of anesthetic had even passed. Cristina was later sentenced to thirty years of aggravated murder. Many women have been torn from their families and suffered an endless list of grievances because the war on abortion is greater than any woman's unalienable rights.

Unexperienced Drivers in THIS Weather

So as an inexperienced driver I am very conscious when I drive on snowy roads, especially
when my siblings or other people are in the car with me. Is it really safe for the schools to allow buses and student drivers to come to school in such conditions? What if the roads are covered in black ice? What if the drivers are not as conscious as they should be? Today is suppose to be colder than yesterday, and Indiana is seeing more snow on the ground. I know of one person who couldn’t get out of her driveway at all, and I followed a person going 25 mph tops in a 45 mph area whom kept slamming on her brakes. This is not safe, tomorrow is said to be worse than today! I, as an inexperienced driver, do not wish to drive to school in worse conditions.

Twins Born in Two Different Years

Jaelyn Valencia and Luis Valencia Jr. are twins but were born in two different years. How is this possible you ask? Jaelyn was born at on December 31, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. Luis was born on January 1, 2016 at 12:01 a.m. In order to be considered twins, the two had to have been born within 24 hours of each other. So even though they were born in separate years, the two Valencia children are twins. If this wasn’t surprising enough for the mother, she wasn’t expecting twins in the first place! Happy New Year’s!

The Meaning of Valentine's Day

Val·en·tine's Day
noun
  1. February 14, a day when it is traditional to send a card, often anonymously, to a person one is romantically involved with or attracted to.

Valentine’s Day is on February 14, it is also the one day of the year you get to show off your guy/girl. Not only can you show them off, but you can also shower them with sweet gifts, cards, candies, and more. Now, some people do not partake in Valentine’s Day for whatever their reasoning is. Let me tell you, the people who aren’t a part of Valentine’s Day are missing out! It is the one day you get to show that extra special attention to that one person you adore without it seeming weird.
Whether your Valentine is your grandma, your dog, your girlfriend/boyfriend, or yourself it is nice to feel appreciated! Most girlfriends love this holiday because they usually get those gifts they didn’t get for Christmas. Generally, guys might like to buy their girlfriends gifts and spoil them others might just simply call the night off to spend more time with her. Either way, the extra attention is always nice to have once and awhile! So, go out buy a gift for your grandma, dog, girlfriend, or yourself and have a good time.

2015 seems to be the year of reboots and sequels of high grossing movies with only three of the top ten being original movies. Star Wars Ep. VII could be considered a reboot of Star Wars Episode IV, which also was the highest grossing movie in 1977. Jurassic World rebooted the Jurassic series, Jurassic Park was the number one movie of 1993. The first Avengers and Hunger Games were one and three top grossing in 2012.
