Two teens from South Carolina were arrested with murder charges on Monday after they killed a good Samaritan who helped pull their SUV out of a ditch.
Deon Frasier, 17, and Dupree-Taylor, 19, were arrested at a North Charleston apartment and denied bond on Tuesday. The two teens asked 45-year-old Chadwick Garrett to help them pull their Dodge Durango out of a ditch. He agreed to help the teens for $20, witnesses said. After Garrett had helped pull the vehicle out of the ditch, Frasier pulled out a gun and allegedly shot several times and struck him in the chest, authorities say. Frasier hurried into the passenger seat and Dupree-Taylor fled the scene driving. About 20 minutes later a woman reported her SUV being used without her permission. There was a brief standoff, police say, but the two teens eventually surrendered without incident. Both the boys had confessed their part in the the shooting. Family members of Chadwick Garrett call the two teens “cowards”. Another unidentified witness says, “It’s dirty, evil”.
