The City of Big Shoulders

Staff Reporter Rowan Gast-Bray
High school seniors with grade point averages that place them in the top ten percent of their class are known as the Top Ten. Monrovia’s Top Ten students are rewarded with several things throughout the school year, the most exciting of which is a 3-day adventure in Chicago led by cool-cats Mr. McDaniel and Mrs. Anderson. The group rented a luxurious house with an unparalleled location, only a couple blocks from Lake Michigan and the John Hancock Tower. The exciting itinerary this year entailed boat rides, fine dining and a Cubs game. The group grew closer together as they bonded during late nights of talking and eating deep dish pizza. The city itself never disappoints. It has a type of character that is exciting to witness. The city of big shoulders has an infectious attitude and nearly every student who went to Wrigley became a Cubs fan. The camaraderie and adventure was unlike anything I have ever experienced. On behalf of the Top Ten, I thank everyone involved in making this exciting trip happen. We also recommend that underclassmen work hard to get a chance at this trip. They will not regret it.
