So far in Kenya nine buildings have collapsed; one trapping an infant child in the rubble. She was terribly dehydrated but had no serious injuries from the crumbled building. In the six-story building she was found in, the first floor had sunk. The President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, had ordered a checkup of all the countries buildings to be sure they were up to standard a year ago after eight had already fallen. To anyone’s surprise 58% of the buildings were not safe to live in, or near for that matter. Housing is a supply and demand problem in Kenya, so the builders cut corners in order to finish each house quickly.
