Lady Bulldogs Golf

Contributing Reporter Maddie Wright
The Monrovia Lady Bulldogs varsity golf team teed off on Tuesday, August 27 in the blistering heat at their home course, Deer Creek. The Lady Bulldogs were facing the Plainfield Quakers and the Cloverdale Clovers. The meet was interrupted after the first couple of holes were played due to lightning striking nearby. The golfers, coaches, and spectators all huddled in Deer Creek’s club house to wait out the weather. After approximately 30 minutes of waiting, the bad weather passed, and the Lady Bulldogs took to the course again to finish out what remained of the nine-hole golf meet.

The Lady Bulldogs earned second place in the three-way golf meet, finishing behind the Lady Quakers.  Leading the Lady Bulldogs was senior golfer Meredith Knieper with a score of 41 strokes. Overall the team score was 202 strokes.  The Lady Bulldogs will play their next three meets away. These meets lead up to the team’s conference tournament which will take place on September 6 at Shank Golf Course.
