Terrorism Safety

Three major things to do if you’re caught in a terrorist attack; by the U.K National Counter Terrorism Security Officers.

Step by step instructions to reduce the number of potential casualties.

  1. Run- if you have the option of escaping, it will always be the safest option.
  2. Hide- Just because you can't see them doesn't mean they can't see you.
  3. Silence your phone- Avoid drawing any attention to yourself.

The guidelines do NOT suggest playing dead, you are 25% less likely to survive that way than running. While one Parisian woman was successful, statistically, that isn't always reliable.

Things to Bake for Good Photo-Ops

With Thanksgiving coming around the corner, it is important to remember not everyone can actually cook! But no need to feel left out!! There are baked things that may taste wretched but look super cute. This is called a photo opportunity, you  can photograph your disaster maybe wearing an apron. One of these these opportunities are cakes and baked goods. Generally keep away from meats and lean towards pastries. Pastries are going to look good and be a good picture even if you screw up the recipe it will still look excellent on camera and you’ll never be able to tell they are rancid.

The Monrovia High School Drama program put on An Evening with the Sherman Brothers for the teachers on Wednesday and an actual performance on Thursday. The show is a combination of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Mary Poppins, The Aristocats, and The Jungle Book. Both shows went exceedingly well, despite the broken mirror on Wednesday! The room was nearly packed on Thursday and thunderous applause erupted afterwards. If you missed it, don’t worry! The drama team is doing a show on Saturday at 7:00 pm and on Sunday at 2:00 pm. Come on down and see how “truly scrumptious” the show is!

Bloomingdale's Spiked a New Level of Wrong

Another franchise in trouble? Bloomingdales has now taken the spotlight from Starbucks and Target for their “Date Rape” ad! The latest holiday catalogue has stirred up quite a roar by advising their customers to “Spike your best friend’s eggnog when they’re not looking.” WHAT? The inappropriate spread has gained so much negative attention, the department store apologized by saying; “In reflection of recent feedback, the copy we used in our recent catalogue was inappropriate and in poor taste. Bloomingdale’s sincerely apologizes for this error in judgement.” Too late Bloomingdale’s!

Downtown is very easy to get around and the traffic is never really bad. Indianapolis is a rather diverse city and is ranked 14th in population size with 848,788 people. There are many different things to do in Indianapolis and always something going on.

Attacks in Paris, Fance and Where it Might Happen Next

Why was Paris attacked, why are we supposed to be next? What was the motive of all of this? Is there something that is supposed to come out of all of this chaos.

Hopefully this link helps with some of the questions we all have.
http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/2015/11/13/paris_shooting_why_did_terrorists_attack_france_again.html

Also, there was another tragic event that happened this weekend over in France. At a soccer game against France and Germany, there was a massacre. There were at least 129 people who were killed from this incident. From bombings and gunshots 129 innocent lives were taken. It was stated that there was an AK-47 located and bomb were not placed around they were on the terrorists themselves. A total of six locations were attacked outside of the capital of France. The locations being: (Restaurant) Le Petit Cambodge, Rue de la Fontaine au Roi, Avenue de la Republique, (Concert Venue) Bataclan, (Restaurant) La Belle Equipe, Stade de France.

From all that has been going on, France has asked three days for mourning. Also, they have closed the Eiffel Tower and any of the main tourist attractions from all these things that have happened in the past 72 hours.

Now, the next question is what is Isis’s plan next? Why do they plan to go to London, Rome, and Washington? What are their goals after they get there?

Holiday Hold-up!

Christmas, the jolly holiday that is supposed to bestow happiness upon the masses is already not too cheery. Large franchises, such as Target and Starbucks, are catching heat over their holiday cheer. Target is in hot water because of a Christmas sweater saying, “OCD- Obsessive Christmas Disorder”. Some people suffering from the illness of OCD have taken to social media to express their issues of having a disorder used as fashion statement. Much more serious than a cup…Starbucks new red, holiday cups have sparked an outcry! People have been coming forward and accusing the company of taking away the Christmas décor “because they hate Jesus”, when in actuality the new design is all about acceptance. The red cup was intended to be a “blank canvas” to fit the needs of individuals because not everyone’s Christmas story is the same! I hope these “issues” are solved quickly because tis the season to be jolly…

Lanyards

Do you have a lanyard? Do you drive a car? I recently noticed that there is a secret code very evident throughout our school. Everyone wears a lanyard with their keys and multiple key chains and public ID’s. They keep them on their necks and/or in their backpack. It is a status quo to show the rest of the student body are cool enough to drive. If you do not drive but still want to be cool, not to worry! You can fill your lanyard with house keys and key chains , or membership cards for local retail shops. Have fun being cool!

Freshman
“I hate it. It’s honestly dumb. It’s asinine. I’ve never been a fan of commercialized holidays period. I hate trying to have it crammed down my throat and then chastised if I criticize it.”
“Well, it sucks because my birthday’s in November and everyone forgets it.”

Verteran's Day

~November 11th~
What’s the big deal about Veterans Day? Why is it such a big deal to everyone? Why is it not such a big deal to others? Well, Veterans Day is a day we take to call out and respect all of our troops who have fought for our country. Veterans Day is such a big deal to everyone because without those brave women and men we would not have the option to be here today. We are all so thankful for the people who risked their lives for us. Wouldn’t you want someone to celebrate all the great things you have done? I would appreciate some appreciation myself! Now, others who do not think so highly of Veterans Day do not really understand what these people have been through for all of us to be here. It’s a shame but it still happens today in 2015, people are disrespectful and ignorant.

Alien Spacecraft????

What was it?

Early this week a UFO was seen over California, and it has ignited skeptics across the US.

Now because something is a UFO that doesn't immediately mean aliens. UFO means Unidentified Flying Object. That being said, it was definitely a UFO. Now the question arises, was it an alien ship or a missile? The government is saying it was a missile test, but many are saying that is the generic cover up story. What do you think of this story? Is it an alien ship or just a missile test?

I am about to drop a bomb on you…a heaven-like Garlic Parmesan Cheese Bomb. Let’s dive right in and skip prolonging the chit-chat because this recipe will make the strong-willed and patient antsy. Grab a can of refrigerated biscuits, tablespoon of parmesan, teaspoon of Italian seasoning and garlic powder, four tablespoons of butter and three mozzarella cheese sticks. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees and add grease to a baking sheet. Place the individual biscuits onto the pan, cut the cheese sticks in half and add the halves to the center of each biscuit and encase the cheese in the dough. Place the pinched side face-down and bake for ten minutes. Once golden; melt butter and stir in parmesan and seasoning. Brush the rolls with the mixture and voila! Enjoy.
