Is Pokemon Go safe?

Staff Reporter Linsey McCloud
For people who aren’t familiar with the game Pokemon Go, it is a spin-off series for phones of the popular t.v. show and Nintendo DS video game. It has swept the nation, causing people all around the world to get out of the house and unite with each other to catch them all! However, as with all good things in this world, bad things tend to happen, which raises the question, is Pokemon Go safe? Let's look at accidents surrounding the game and ultimately let you decide if the game is safe or if Team Rocket is at it again. First, we will look at a shooting involving a boy named Jerson Lopez de Leon and his younger cousin. The two boys broke into a house to catch a Pokemon and were shot and killed. Next, two men from San Diego, California where on the hunt for some Pokemon and ignored warning signs and climbed a fence that led to a drop of more than 50 feet. No one was injured, and the men were luckily rescued. The last example is that a registered sex offender was caught playing the game with a teen boy in Indiana. So is Team Rocket at it again, or is it just freak accidents that happen because people aren’t being more aware of their surroundings?
