Top 10 Most Haunted Places In America

These 10 places are frequently filled with paranormal activity, witness accounts and weird sightings. These places have several visitors who want to see the paranormal activity for themselves.


#1 Gettysburg Battlefield, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
The historic spot where thousands of men died in the Battle of Gettysburg is believed to be haunted. Several tourists report ghost encounters that they thought were Civil War re-enactors, at first. Although, they found out later there were no re-enactors at the park.



#2 The Bell Witch Cave, Adams, Tennessee.
Kate Batts known as the “Bell Witch” felt that she was cheated out of land deal by John Bell (her former neighbor). While she was on her deathbed she swore she would haunt him and his descendants.  The story goes that John’s daughter, Betsy Bell, has a few run-ins with the Bell Witch sometimes.


#3 The Stanley Hotel, Estes Park, Colorado.
The famous Stephen King wrote The Shining in the Stanley hotel while staying there. Several guests and and staff report seeing children and objects moving.


#4 Waverly Hills Sanatorium, Louisville, Kentucky.
The former tuberculosis hospital in Kentucky has been known for the stories of seen shadows, ghostly nurses and voices in the attic.


#5 Eastern State Penitentiary, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Known as the “haunted house within the prison” has been investigated by many paranormal groups. They have many tourists visiting to see the paranormal activities for themselves!


#6 Saint Augustine Lighthouse, St. Augustine, Florida.
Three little girls died on site while construction was being done. Apparently they were playing with the rail car on the hill that was used to bring supplies down. The car spun out of control and the three little girls drowned in the water below them. Visitors say they can hear “Help me!” inside of the tower along with footsteps and oddly lights.


#7 Mount Misery Road, West Hills, New York.
Cursed by settlers for its difficult passage Mount Misery Road can be a very spooky place. People have seen faces of ghosts in trees, misty apparitions and strange lights.


#8 The Queen Mary, Long Beach, California.
The ocean liner is haunted by ghostly children and a sailor who died while escaping a fire. Ghost hunters experience a lot aboard the floating hotel.


#9 The Lincoln Theater, Decatur, Illinois.
The old Lincoln Theater holds a lot of paranormal activity for tourists. The Preist Hotel used to be where the theater is now ,but burned to the ground in 1915. At least two people died in the fire. The Lincoln Theater was built one year later in 1916. Visitors get chills and hear footsteps often.


#10 Bachelor’s Grove Cemetery, Chicago, Illinois.
There are over 100 reports documented of ghosts sightings makes this cemetery one of the most haunted cemeteries in the country! Many people have witnessed a glowing ball of light hovering over the cemetery.
