Dog and Human Brains Alike

Staff Reporter Dalton Smith
Studies show that dog and human brains are very much alike. Researchers sent highly trained dogs through MRI scanners, and that's how they came to discover this. So when you say a phrase that a dog knows like "good dog," they can understand you. The left side of the dog's brain responds to the word itself, and the right side responds to intonation. This only works with the dogs that are used to commands and know what the word means that you say, like "sit."
