Pumpkin Season

'Tis the season for pumpkin. Try these iced pumpkin cookies to get in the fall spirit.

2 ½ cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoons cinnamon
½ teaspoon nutmeg
½ teaspoon cloves
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup softened butter
1 ½ cup white sugar
1 cup canned pumpkin puree
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups confectioner’s sugar
3 tablespoons milk
1 tablespoon melted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract


  1. Preheat oven to 350
  2. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt
  3. In a medium bowl cream together ½ cup butter and sugar. Then add 1 teaspoon vanilla, pumpkin and egg to the mixture and beat until creamy
  4. Mix in dry ingredients and drop batter onto baking sheet by tablespoons, flatten slightly
  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes
  6. While the cookies are baking combine confectioner’s sugar, milk, melted butter, and 1 teaspoon vanilla to make icing
  7. Once cookies have cooled drizzle cookies with icing
